November 2024 – continuing learning at home and making a connection with Stem and history!
This term Year 1 have been building up a toolbox of drawing techniques by demonstrating how lines can be used to create shade, density and lightness. We have explored cross-hatching, using zig-zags, waves, dots, curves, using the tips and sides of drawing tools and using pressure to go from light to dark / dark to light. After studying Albrect Durer’s black and white print of The Rhinoceros, we created our own animal drawings using a range of materials such as pencils, pens, charcoal and also paint.
