Throughout the week, the children learned about Chinese New Year, and that this year is the Year of the Rabbit. Tiger Class explored Chinese letters by trying to write them themselves, and worked together to make a dragon head and body for their Dragon Dance.

The children put on a fantastic performance of A Wriggly Nativity. They did an incredible job remembering all the songs, the actions and their lines. From the home-made costumes to the child-made set, everyone looked amazing. We are truly so proud of the hard work the children put into their performance.

Blending the real-world experience of taking the DLR with the celebration of Christmas, the children visited the DLR-themed Santa’s Grotto in Tower Gateway. Each child got to pick what design they wanted painting on their face, scooped reindeer food into bags and sprinkled in edible glitter, and finally got to meet Santa himself!

The latest issue of Connect, the Mulberry Schools Trust newsletter, is out now!

We have had a fantastic turnout of families attending our Open Evenings and we really hope they join our school in September 2023. If you have not yet visited the school, we are holding another event on Tuesday 10th January 2023 from 5pm–6pm.

Tiger Class had a wonderful time visiting the Discover Children’s Story Centre at Stratford recently.

We went to the Discover – Children’s Story Centre in Stratford to use our imaginations and create a story for Hootah the alien. The children enjoyed exploring the Story World to create their own story ideas by trying on different costumes, explore different settings, and building characters through a range of activities.

We have held several workshops this half term to support parents to understand learning in the early years, these include a phonics workshop and a primary basics workshop.

BBC Children in Need at Mulberry Wood Wharf was a huge success this year raising £337 for the charity.

The children came to school wearing yellow and/or spotty clothes for Children In Need. Many children baked cakes with their families, which they brought in to compete in The Great Mulberry Wood Wharf Bake-Off. Everyone had such brilliant cakes, and we all got to enjoy them in the bake sale at the end of the day.

This term the children marked Anti-Bullying Week by learning about kindness and what makes a good friend, they also wore odd socks for the day to show that it’s ok to be different.
