We are so excited to share the summer 2023 issue of Connect, the Mulberry Schools Trust newsletter.

This issue is packed with exciting news from across our Trust, including the feature article on Mulberry Academy Woodside and Mulberry Canon Barnett joining our family of schools. We are thrilled to share news of the continued success of our Mulberry STEM Academy programme, the exceptional activities and opportunities opening up to students on the Mulberry Production Arts Academy programme, and our continued contribution to the school system with the work taking place at Mulberry College of Teaching, the East London Teaching School Hub and Reconnect London.

The stories in this issue provide a glimpse into the many achievements of our students, staff and partners.

We hope you enjoy reading about our schools and the opportunities they provide our students.

Enjoy!

We are so excited to share the spring edition of Connect, the Mulberry Schools Trust newsletter, which is out now!

Tiger Class looked at the ingredients used to make gingerbread men. The children smelt the ground ginger. Some of the children said it smelt spicy. All the children enjoyed rolling and cutting the dough into gingerbread men. After they had baked and cooked, they decorated their gingerbread men.

The charity It’s Your Life and Save the Children are collaborating on a project in Tower Hamlets to help families. They aim to support families to gain an understanding of how you can support your two year old’s development, create resources to help support learning at home, be supported in a friendly environment and develop the confidence and skills to help your child succeed in the Early Years.

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets are working with the Department for Education (DfE) to build and test a website called Find Support for your Family.

Thank you to all the families who have contributed to and taken books from the book swap, joined us at the end of the day to read with the children, and who read to their children at home every day to inculcate a love of reading in their child.

Throughout the week, the children learned about Chinese New Year, and that this year is the Year of the Rabbit. Tiger Class explored Chinese letters by trying to write them themselves, and worked together to make a dragon head and body for their Dragon Dance.

The children put on a fantastic performance of A Wriggly Nativity. They did an incredible job remembering all the songs, the actions and their lines. From the home-made costumes to the child-made set, everyone looked amazing. We are truly so proud of the hard work the children put into their performance.

Blending the real-world experience of taking the DLR with the celebration of Christmas, the children visited the DLR-themed Santa’s Grotto in Tower Gateway. Each child got to pick what design they wanted painting on their face, scooped reindeer food into bags and sprinkled in edible glitter, and finally got to meet Santa himself!
